How can Parents Ensure Proper Vision for their Children?

Children, at a young age, are not much aware about their own safety. They are not equipped with adequate knowledge for taking care of their body including their eyes. So, in terms of eye care, parents can be alert for the following:

Time for First Vision Screening

During the tests run on the baby after its born, eye check up is also included. Later on, at the age of 3 to 5, children should be taken to a doctor for a vision screening test at the best optical store in Port Louis. It is also a good thing if children can be taken for a vision test before they start off their schooling, either kindergarten or proper school.

Parents have to pay close attention to notice any discomfort which the child might face in terms of being able to see things. There are other pointers as well, some of which are:

  • Misaligned or red or irritation in the eyes
  • The child squints while reading
  • The child strains her/his eyes more while reading than others

These are good enough indicators to let the parents take heed of the matter and schedule a doctor’s appointment.

Safety of Eyes While Children Play

Kids are often involved with various sports and other physical activities. Optometrists at the best optical shop in Mauritius state that small and big balls, dirt, random objects can always fly off and hit the eyes. Thus, parents have to be cautious about their safety when they are out playing.

Limited Screen Time

Children should be allowed to use digital screens like phones, laptops or tablets for a limited time. The harmful rays emitted from such devices are harmful for both adults and young ones. However, adults cannot choose to stay away from computers, due to work pressure and more but children need not have excessive exposure to these.

Children are the most vulnerable when it comes to any physical issues. Anything critical would eventually hamper their growth and it is the sole responsibility of the parents to ensure the safety of the kids till the time they become self – aware.
