Face – Down – Positioning Unnecessary Post Retinal Surgery

It is a long standing thought that Face Down Positioning (FDP) is mandatory during the period of recovery after a retinal surgery. The general norm for this posture is recommended for a period ranging from few days to a week. It is extremely uncomfortable and awkward too for the patient. In some cases, as seen by the professionals at the optical shop in Curepipe, it has led to musculoskeletal disorders. There have been other observations too which have found that FDP has caused other conditions too.

There are eye doctors associated with the providers of the Seiko super resistant blue glasses in Mauritius who have placed a higher level of focus on vitreoretinal care after surgery and diabetic eye care. There are a set of techniques which if used precisely, would cause lesser trauma and then the patients can get rid of the Face Down Positioning post the operation.

The conditions which benefit from retinal surgery are:

  • Intraocular foreign bodies
  • Vitreous haemorrhage
  • Refractory macular edema

So, the new approach is beneficial for those who are quite wary of the positioning (FDP). Older patients and the ones who suffer from back and spine issues are especially benefitted from this.

Face Down Recovery Buddies

There are various cushions which are available in a well – designed and hold a high – quality orthopaedic standard in case of usage in FDP. These make the process as comfortable as is possible under the circumstances. The experts at the optical shop in Curepipe suggest that in case your eye doctor recommends using these specifically, then you must follow the instructions properly.

The recovery period can be kept the minimum only by following the instructions precisely. The health of the patient matters a lot in the time period for which these are administered by the doctors. You can always follow i2i Optical’s blog latest information on eyecare.
